Women in Aviation
It was another successful Wings & Wheels event this past Saturday, with a small but good crowd. Representatives from 7 different Women's Aviation Groups helped make our Salute to Women in Aviation theme take life.
Present were individuals from two local chapters of Women in Aviation International, the Ninety-Nines, Girls With Wings, Women in Corporate Aviation, the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance, and Women Soaring/Soaring Society of America.
At a table along side them was local author and historian Celeste Graves, who was there to sign copies of her book, "A View from the Doghouse". Outside on the ramp, we had the museum's collection of aircraft - the 1942 Lockheed Lodestar, the Sikorsky S-58 helicopter, and the 2009-2010 Raffle Plane - a 1958 Cessna 175. Joining them was a Cessna Bobcat on loan to the museum, a beautifully restored Waco biplane, which was flown in by Dianna Stanger and Robbie Vajdos from the Girls With Wings group, a Beechcraft Bonanza, and a homebuilt Jabiru airplane.
The wheels part of the show was well represented on the parking lot side of the building with two different classic car clubs being present. All in all, this was a very good event, and we look forward to doing this theme again next year and making it even better!
