Museum 70th Anniversary!
Happy Birthday Museum!
Today we celebrated the 70th birthday of the museum. The building opened on September 28, 1940, and was in service as Houston's main air terminal until 1954.
We had most of the aircraft from our hangar out on display for all to see. Out front we had the DeLorean club of Houston out in full force. I don't think any of us had seen this many DeLoreans in once place!
Museum volunteers Drew Coats and Blair McFarlain flew in on Drew's Bonanza, while fellow volunteers Max Tribolet, taking a break from school, and Rich Simental flew in a rented Piper from Austin. We also had our new raffle plane on the ramp for all to see. Tickets are now on sale! Get yours today! Jeff Weiss also flew his Bonanza in for the event, along with a white and green Piper PA-28.
The weather was off and on all day, with a large storm forming near the end of the day. We had a great time celebrating the museum's 70 year history with a little birthday cake! As always, it was a fun day. Here's to the next 70 years!
