Stop by Hobby Airport on Saturday, April 21,
but head over to HobbyFest
Wings and Wheels is taking a day off to join in the festivities across the field!

HobbyFest 2012

We will be operating a normal Museum day over at the 1940 Air Terminal Museum from 10 to 5, so stop by when you can. We will have a limited number of free passes to HobbyFest to give away. If you’d like to head straight on over, feel free to!
Speaking of free, your entry to HobbyFest is free if you present them with five brand new pens or pencils to help benefit The Pencil Project.

HobbyFest is on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the Northeast Ramp.

From the Museum:

  • head north on Telephone Road,
  • turn right on Airport Boulevard,
  • turn right onto Monroe,
  • turn right onto Panair Street,
  • then turn LEFT at the T intersection (that street is also called Monroe!),
  • and finally make a right onto Nelms Street.
  • You will probably see volunteers in vests directing traffic, but if not, you are heading to 8402 Nelms #5, where Angel Flight is.

Our beautiful Lockheed Lodestar N31G will be on display, and we are also expecting to have this year’s Raffle Plane 5.0 N4285F on display as well! They will be joining a great lineup of planes:

    Boeing 727
    1960s Cessna 172
    1960s Piper Comanche 250 (PA-24)
    1960s Piper Arrow (PA 28R)
    Mooney
    King Air 350
    Cessna Excel
    Huey Helicopter

Not only that, but HobbyFest has these things planned:

Southwest Airlines 737 – free tours
    Souvenir Photos: (Prices TBD)
Games & Challenges – such as a Baggage Handler Race
Family Health – Blood Pressure Screening and BMI Testing
Kid Zone – Moonwalks, Face Painting, Mad Science Exhibit, Balloon Artist
Raffle Prizes – ranging from roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines to theater and arts tickets, local eatery gift certificates and a flight simulator demo

The Museum will be open from 10am to 5pm. Regular admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children. Fly your plane in and admission to the Museum is free!

Calling all Members – Meet your HAHS Board and your fellow members! You are hopefully aware that The Houston Aeronautical Heritage Society is the organization that formed to preserve and share Houston’s rich aviation history, and were the organization that started the 1940 Air Terminal Museum for all to enjoy. Its Board of Directors (some newly elected) will be having a meeting at the Museum, beginning at 10:00 am Saturday.

Find out more about becoming a Member of the Museum!

Although today is just a normal Museum day, we WILL still have our locally operated mobile food vendor onsite. Flaming Patties will be back with their delicious gourmet burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches! Find out more at their Facebook page or follow them (around town!) on Twitter.
