SWA Opens A

It was on this day, December 8, in 1974 that Southwest Airlines opened their ticket counter and gates in Concourse A at Houston’s Hobby Airport. After spending 3 years in a small ground floor location, SWA restored Hobby Airport to airline operations out of it’s existing passenger concourses. SWA would expand the A Concourse in the ’90s and eventually occupy the C Concourse as well.
The A Concourse was closed in 2007 with the opening of the new terminal.
I have used the A Concourse many, many times in my life, starting in 1975.
