Join the WWII Flying Fortress Texas Raiders for a Wings Over Houston weekend, presented by the Commemorative Air Force. Get ready for the big airshow with a flight on the iconic bomber on Friday, October 18, then see her fly in performance at Wings Over Houston Airshow at Ellington Airport on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20.
Flights on October 18 will depart from the classic 1940 Air Terminal Museum at Hobby Airport, so a flight on Texas Raiders that day can be combined with a tour of the museum, which features vintage displays from the 1940’s and 50’s, when the Air Terminal was the first and only commercial airport in Houston.
A flight on Texas Raiders out of the Air Terminal Museum on Friday is a great way to warm up for the big Wings Over Houston Airshow Saturday and Sunday. The airshow features the US Navy Blue Angels demonstration team and the Commemorative Air Force performance team TORA TORA TORA, which includes the B-7 Texas Raiders and the replica Japanese Zeros re-enacting the attack on Pearl Harbor.
If you’re coming to Houston for the Wings Over Houston Airshow, Friday October 18 will be the only opportunity to fly with Texas Raiders or our Twin Beech, Little Raider, that weekend, so sign up now for one of the limited number of flights at the 1940 Air Terminal Museum at Hobby Airport, 8325 Travelair Street, Houston, Texas. Flights start at $475 for the B-17 and $100 for the Twin Beech.

During the SMH festival, Pitch and Roll fills The Hangar at the 1940 Air Terminal Museum at Hobby Airport. This exhibition introduces contemporary sculptures positioned side by side with classic airplanes. The exhibit intimately connects the art to human industry and technological prowess. “Hangar” artists responded to this challenge by creating works of outsize scale and unique diversity that hold their own against the fabulous flying machines.
Opening reception is on Saturday, October 19 from 6 to 9 pm. The exhibit will be on display from October 19 – November 30 so come by and see it! The opening reception event is FREE and open to the public. Donations are welcome and encouraged.
The following artists are participating: William Cannings, Dylan Conner, Sharon Engelstein, Orna Feinstein, Alex Larsen, Steve Murphy, Eduardo Portillo, Troy Stanley, James Surls.
