Sculpture month Houston – Opening Reception: Wild blue yonder
Oct 20 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Join us for an opening reception to continue our celebration of Sculpture Month. This is a free event open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

“Wild blue yonder”

This is the first time that the Houston art community -through Sculpture Month Houston- has partnered with the 1940 Air Terminal Museum in displaying contemporary art in this historic art deco structure. These 8 artists, who all have connections to Houston, have made unique installations in response to the site. The artwork is reacting to architecture and history of the space, but there is also an interaction between the artists.

Nick Barbee (Galveston)
Shane and Peter Allbritton (Houston)
Julie De Vries (Houston)
Thomas Glassford (Mexico City)
Christy Karll (Houston)
David Medina (Houston)
Pablo Gimenez Zapiloa (Houston)

This is a SMH sponsored and curated event at the 1940 Air Terminal Museum at Hobby Airport.

It opens October 20, 6:30 to 9 PM. {will be on view until Dec.1 and viewable by appointment}
