1943 Cessna Bobcat N78UC

The Cessna T-50 'Bobcat' was another civilian design that gained fame after being pressed into wartime military service, in this case as the famed UC-78 'Bamboo Bomber', built in the thousands to train pilots to safely operate multi-engine aircraft.

Our Bobcat is on loan to us thanks to the generosity of Dennis Winegarner.

Many of these found their way to the civilian market after the war and some may recognize the Bobcat as the same type of plane flown by Kirby Grant in early seasons of the popular TV show 'Sky King'. Constructed of old-school materials (principally wood and fabric), N78UC is on long-term loan from a private owner and is maintained in operating condition.
